چکیده

Background: Effective and repeated control use of synthetic insecticides has led to the development resistance in mosquitoes. This problem resulted need for new strategies selective mosquito larval control. The present work investigated larvicidal efficacy Azadirachta indica, Ocimum gratissimum, Cymbopogon citratus ethanolic extracts against Culex quinquefasciatus Methods: Extracts A. O. C. were obtained using 80% ethanol after their leaves had been previously air-dried about 3-4 weeks. Thereafter, solvent was evaporated with a rota-ry evaporator eliminate any solvents still present. Twenty-five samples (in four replicates) 2nd-3rd in-star larvae exposed various concentrations (20 mg/L, 40 60 80 100 mg/L) each leaf WHO standard procedures. Data analyzed Statistical Package Social Sciences (SPSS) Windows, version 14, statistical differences among mortalities induced by different Analysis Variance (ANOVA) at 95% confidence level (P= 0.05) aid GraphPad prism 8. Results: There an increase mortality rates as concentration three increased over 24 hours. Eighty mg/L extract indica gave rate 96.10% (24±0.1) hours exposure, same 100% (25.0. ±0.0) which is significantly (P < higher than 96.1% 80.0 % (20.0±0.5) conditions gratissimum respectively. 51% (12.5±0.7) However, least motility exposure 24-hour duration exposure. Conclusion: study concluded that most active, followed then gratissimum. citratus, hold great potential, they are important tools can be integrated into vector programme

Larvicidal potential of Cyathea species against Culex quinquefasciatus

Resistance to insecticides has persuaded researchers to find new methods to control Culex quinquefasciatus proliferation. Plants may be a source of alternative agents for mosquito control due to ever-growing insecticide resistance in mosquito vectors and environmental imbalance caused by synthetic insecticides. The present study was intended to study the larvicidal activity of selected Cyathea ...

Larvicidal activity of some plant extracts to larvae of the mosquito Culex quinquefasciatus (Say 1823).

OBJECTIVES AND METHODS Searching for potent plant larvicides, crude aqueous extract of the latex of Uschar (Calotropis procera) and Labakh (Ficus benghalensis) were tested against the fourth instar larvae of the lymphatic filariasis vector Culex quinquefasciatus (Diptera: Culicidae) using the conventional methods recommended by the WHO. Likewise, the toxicity level of Malathion was tested. The ...

Background & Objectives. The plan of this work was to study the larvicidal activity of Cassia occidentalis (Linn.) against the larvae of Culex quinquefasciatus. These larvae are the most significant vectors. They transmit the parasites and pathogens which cause a deadly disease like filariasis, dengue, yellow fever, malaria, Japanese encephalitis, chikungunya, and so forth, which are considered...
